I totally want a themed wedding. And just like my old plans, it will be a weekend long celebration, starting with Thursday night as the Bridal Party Beach Camp-Out! I’m not sure of the theme yet, I’m playing around with Sponge Bob Squarepants luau, because Patrick loves SBSP, and I like it, but it seems a bit childish. I mean, the whole idea behind having themed events is that it gives us a chance to share our favorite fandoms with our friends and family, hence the following event themes, but Thursday night is hard to figure out, AAANNNNDDDD SBSP still seems a bit childish. SO I’LL TAKE SUGGESTIONS!
Friday night would still be the welcome dinner for out of town guests and it would be a Top Gear/Motorhead themed night. We’d ask the guests to dress either in 1950/60’s attire, those being great decades for classic cars, OR as their favorite speed fiend/motorhead, OR as a member of the cast of Top Gear. We could have Top Gear like games or something, we could also have friends and family bring their classic hot rods to show at the event, as well as whatever sweet car Patrick might be working on at the time, and then to top it all off, we would have Bob’s Burgers themed food so of course Burgers, but in the painfully artistic way that only Bob can serve them, as well as a nod to the Lobster Fest episode, with lobster, crab, oysters, etc etc. I really just want it to be an excuse to have a seafood night, just like before but with a theme, and Top Gear/Bob’s Burgers seemed to fit, and of course they are shows we just love!
Saturday morning would still be a brunch, but it would be a Alice in Wonderland/Wizard of Oz Tea and Garden Party Brunch. The Decorations would evoke both stories, and we would have the classic brunch menu with nods to both stories. We would ask the guests to dress in their best garden party attire, or if they wanted to go all out they could dress as their favorite character from either of those fandoms, both of which I grew up loving btw, or any fandom that matches apropriately.
Saturday night we would still have the rehearsal dinner, but it would be Fururistic/End of the Earth/Doctor Who/Futurama/Fifth Element/Star Wars Themed. Yes. That many fandoms in one night. I just really was trying to lump together the fandoms we loved in groups that went well together, so Friday was contemporary, Saturday morning is fantasy/psychadelic, Saturday night is Futuristic, and Sunday is Medieval/Fantasy…you’ll see. So we would still have it in a rented hall, and we would ask the guests to dress as their favorite character from any futuristic fandom, not just the ones listed, or in any sort of futuristic looking outfit. Our food would still be primarily hors devours, which to me still keeps with the futuristic theme, kinda like futuristic people only eating food in pill form or dehydrated or something like that. We could have a DJ that plays fun contemporary and ‘futuristic’ dance music. OOH but the most important part is that we really convey that the party IS a recreation of the End of the Earth Party from the first series of Doctor Who (2005), I would make a Casandra replica and a Face of Boe replica, and ask if some of the guests would like to dress as a few of the other characters. My mom would look beautiful as a Tree of Cheem.
Then on Sunday, we would have the ceremony; it would still be outdoors in a forest clearing, and it would be LOTR/FABLE/SKYRIM/VIKING/MEDIEVAL THEMED!!! YYEEEAAAHH!!! lol This is my favorite, because it’s going to be so beautiful! We’ll have lots of pretty decorations that evoke all of the games and styles, they go well together so it’ll look lovely. Lots of flowers, lots of lights, in the trees and on the tables, I want a sign that says ‘no admittance except on party business’ and a bunch of signs with quotes from the movies and games that are talking about love/companionship, there are some good ones said by Arwen and Theresa, and also in The Brotherhood. We wouldn’t have picnic blankets anymore just because I think tables would be better for the guests, although we could have picnic blankets as an option for those who want to take it, especially since there will be a sort of reception before the ceremony, as well as after. We will still have the ceremony be impromtu and casual, though I found some cool pictures of ceremonies where the chairs are in a circle or spiral around the altar, so maybe that will change a bit. I want the bridal party to be in full costume, dressed as wariors and rogues etc. Maybe we’ll even have some How to Train Your Dragon elements in there as well, and maybe some Brave and Frozen depending on the location and natural atmosphere. If we could somehow figure out how to build a giant marionette Dragon that looked like Paarthurnax to lead the ceremony that would be freaking AWESOME!!! We would also have like a pig on a spit or something totally barbaric like that, and if we could rent some peacocks or some other magestic animal that would be cool too. Thats basically it, I didn’t add photos to this post only because it takes a lot of work to do so, and also because I have a pinboard so yeah, it’s all there. http://www.pinterest.com/mimikittie/earthylotrskyrimviking-wedding/
