What would your mix tape be?
my “for when you’re happy” would include artists like Lady Gaga, The Beatles, Muse, Mumford and Sons, some random singles from artists who I don’t really like more than one or two songs from (like eminem, britney, katy perry, etc…)
my “for when you’re sad” might include some of my favorite Broadway hits, only because I know that when I’m sad I like being distracted by something, and Showtunes would definitely distract me because I’d start concentrating on singing…pop music wouldn’t necessarily do that for me, I know I could drown it out and start thinking about whatever made me sad in the first place. So basically some stuff from Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, Avenue Q, Into the Woods, Miss Saigon etc….
my “for when you feel nothing” would most definitely include pieces from my favorite composers, both old and new. So stuff from Beethoven, John Williams, Clint Mansell, James Horner, Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, Vivaldi, Dvorak etc etc…. the masterpieces these people and more have made is the type of music that moves me most in my life, it brings me to a center and inspires me to feel.

I SERIOUSLY want to start a band like this, well not necessarily exactly this genre, but much like these people, I want to start a band with REAL musicians who are serious about their craft, where we could cover and write original pieces in an array of genres including jazz, big band, classic sounding rock, folk, delta blues, ragtime, bluegrass etc etc etc…..WHO’S WITH ME!!?!?!?!?!?
